Integrative Approach

An integrative approach views physical and behavioral symptoms as clues, providing critical information about health and well-being. Rather than separating mental and physical health, it evaluates the whole person. By identifying underlying contributors and connecting these systems, care moves beyond symptom management toward greater regulation, resilience, and sustainable well-being.

I get it, it’s a bit confusing! Let me share some definitions.

Integrative Medicine:

Integrative medicine is an approach to care that combines medical treatment with complementary therapies (acupuncture, yoga, massage, etc), while recognizing the deep connection between mind, body, and environment. It focuses on treating the whole person by addressing lifestyle, nutrition, stress, relationships, and underlying root causes to support long-term healing and well-being.

Functional Medicine:

Functional medicine is a systems-based approach to healthcare that seeks to identify and address the root causes of disease rather than simply managing symptoms. It looks at how genetics, nutrition, gut health, hormones, immune function, lifestyle, and environmental exposures interact, using personalized plans to restore balance and optimize long-term health.

Holistic Care:

Holistic care is a broad philosophy of care that focuses on the whole person—mind, body, spirit, and environment. It emphasizes balance, prevention, lifestyle, and the interconnectedness of all aspects of well-being. It does not necessarily require specific testing models or root-cause frameworks; it is more of a guiding lens or mindset.

Naturopathic Medicine:

Naturopathic medicine is another approach that emphasizes prevention, natural therapies, and the body’s inherent ability to heal. It integrates modern medical knowledge with evidence-informed treatments such as nutrition, lifestyle modification, and stress management. Naturopathic care focuses on identifying and addressing root causes while supporting the whole person.
